How we rated the Fitbit Air
Our own assessment of a device we do not sell, weighted across six dimensions: accuracy 30 percent, coverage 20 percent, battery 15 percent, value 15 percent, comfort 10 percent, app and ecosystem 10 percent. Every score links to its source: independent testing, or the brand's own page for current-model specs and prices.
Clean resting HR, HRV and sleep-timing data but weak workout HR: wide error and coarse sampling make hard efforts unreliable, so it trails Whoop wrist-to-wrist.
Against a Fourth Frontier ZONE ECG reference the Air showed +1.9 bpm bias but limits of agreement of -18.1 to +21.9 bpm (N=1,115), versus Whoop -1.6 bpm / -3.6 to +0.4; the Air stores roughly one fifth the data points during sport (~5s stored vs 1s on Whoop/Polar). the5krunner ↗
For a screenless all-day wellness band it covers the category well: 24/7 HR, HRV, SpO2, skin temperature, breathing rate, sleep stages and background AFib alerts; only manual on-demand ECG and on-screen metrics are absent.
Google lists 24/7 heart rate, heart rhythm monitoring with AFib alerts, SpO2, resting heart rate, HRV, and sleep stages and duration on the screenless Air; independent reviews confirm a skin-temperature sensor and breathing rate, and no manual ECG. Google (official) ↗
Independently confirmed week-long battery with genuinely fast charging, strong for an all-day tracker worn to bed.
Reviewer hit 16% after seven days on a charge and went from near-empty to about 80% in under 30 minutes with the magnetic charger. 9to5Google ↗
At about 12g the pebble disappears on the wrist and is comfortable enough to sleep in, though the thicker Active band can run warm.
The just-over-12-gram tracker felt like 'a staple hair tie rather than a needy Tamagotchi' and was called even more comfortable than the reviewer's smart ring; the review carries an AA Recommended badge. Android Authority ↗
Works on iOS and Android and feeds Fitbit data into apps like Vora, but the redesigned Google Health app is cluttered and the native AI Health Coach is unreliable.
The AI Health Coach invented a six-mile run it built daily advice around and spawned a made-up kickboxing session, the app is called 'a complete information overload', and the reviewer advised using the free trial before paying for the coach. 9to5Google ↗
At $99 with no subscription required for core tracking, it is one of the best-value all-day trackers, undercutting subscription rivals like Whoop.
Priced at $99 with no subscription required (Premium is an optional $9.99/mo or $99/yr); the reviewer calls it 'an easy-button recommendation' for most people who would otherwise buy a Whoop, despite HR accuracy gaps. DC Rainmaker ↗

Build a stack around the Fitbit
It is pre-loaded below. Drag in a second device to see how the combined coverage changes.
Build your stack. Vora runs it.
Drag wearables from the ring into the arena, or tap to add. Combine up to 8, each signal takes the strongest sensor you own, and Vora reconciles them into one plan.
Strong for its focus, with a few gaps a second device could close.
- A single device is simplest to live with. Vora squeezes the most out of whatever it captures.
