No Credit Card. No Trial That Expires. Actually Free.
Most health apps use the word "free" loosely. You download the app, create an account, and within five minutes you hit a paywall. Log more than two meals? Upgrade. See your weekly trends? Upgrade. Access the feature that was in the screenshot that convinced you to download the app? Definitely upgrade.
Vora's free tier is different, and it's different on purpose. The parts of the app that actually make a difference in your health cost nothing. Not for 7 days. Not for 14 days. Permanently.
Here's exactly what you get.
Full Workout Logging
Log any exercise, any set, any rep scheme. Barbell work, dumbbell movements, bodyweight exercises, machines, cardio, circuits. Logging workouts, building your own and starting planned ones are all on every plan, with no cap on how many workouts you can log per week. You also get one AI workout suggestion on the free plan.
Here is where the line sits, so you know before you start. Turning a suggestion into a workout you can start, the Generate Workout button, and getting three suggestions a morning instead of one are Pro. The logger itself is not gated.
AI Nutrition Tracking
Photo logging, voice logging, and barcode scanning for food. Take a picture of your plate and the AI estimates calories, protein, carbs, fat, and micronutrients, filling in values from USDA data where it can. Vora's USDA-backed food database tracks 90 nutrients per food. Say "two eggs and toast with butter" and it's logged instantly. Scan a barcode on packaged food and the nutritional data populates automatically. All three input methods are included on the free tier.
This is worth emphasizing because several competitors put photo logging behind a paywall. MyFitnessPal puts Meal Scan, its photo logging, behind Premium, at $19.99 a month or $79.99 a year. Cronometer lists Photo Log in its Gold tier only, at $10.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Vora includes photo logging at $0, with no daily limit on food logging in the app.
Recovery Scoring From Your Wearable
Oura, Garmin, Fitbit and WHOOP (beta) connect to Vora directly on iPhone and Android, and Samsung Health connects directly on Android. An Apple Watch, a Galaxy Watch on iPhone, or anything else reaches Vora through Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android. Vora reads heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep stages and activity data and calculates its own Sleep, Recovery and Strain scores from them.
Two limits to know before you plan around it. The direct Fitbit and WHOOP connections have limited spots. Samsung Health does not share HRV, resting heart rate or respiratory rate with Vora. Vora also calculates its own scores rather than importing another company's, so a Garmin Body Battery reading, an Oura Readiness score or a WHOOP recovery score does not come across as that number.
This is the kind of feature that some companies charge a dedicated monthly subscription for. WHOOP's recovery scoring requires a membership that costs $199 to $359 a year. Oura's membership, which the company says you need for the full Readiness and Sleep scores, is $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US, on top of the ring hardware. Vora's scores are part of the free plan, and so is every connection that feeds them.
Sleep Analysis
If your wearable tracks sleep stages (most modern ones do), Vora analyzes your sleep duration, stage distribution, timing consistency, and trends over time. The app gives you context on how your sleep is affecting your recovery and training readiness, not just raw numbers in a vacuum.
AI Coaching
The AI chat is available on the free plan. Ask it about your training, get exercise recommendations, request meal ideas based on your macro targets, or have it walk you through your recovery data. The free allowance is 10 AI messages a day, shared between the in-app coach and Vora AI Text. Vora Pro raises that to 100 a day. This is the one number most people hit, so it is worth knowing up front rather than discovering mid-conversation.
Vora AI Text is part of that allowance. You can text Vora over iMessage on iPhone or RCS on Android to log meals and workouts by message, photo, voice note or barcode number, once you link your number in the app.
Full Wearable Integration
Health data connections are free on every plan. That covers Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android, plus the direct Oura, Garmin, Fitbit, WHOOP (beta) and Samsung Health connections. There's no "connect one device for free, pay to connect a second one" gate. The limits are the ones above: limited spots on the direct Fitbit and WHOOP connections, and the Samsung Health metrics that are not shared. One Vora caveat on Android: Vora reads blood pressure from Apple Health on iPhone, but not from Health Connect on Android.
Health Scores
Vora calculates its own health scores, including Sleep, Recovery and Strain, along with sleep and cycle tracking. These are on every plan.
Bloodwork
Importing and graphing lab reports is on the free plan too, so your blood test results sit alongside the wearable data rather than in a separate app.
Why Give All of This Away?
Because the basics of health tracking shouldn't be a luxury product. Logging what you eat, tracking your workouts, understanding your sleep, and knowing whether your body is recovered enough to train hard are foundational to taking care of yourself. Putting a paywall in front of those things means the people who would benefit most from tracking are often the least likely to start.
There's also a practical reason that works in everyone's favor. Vora gets smarter the more you use it. The AI learns your patterns, your preferences, your recovery rhythms, and your nutritional habits over weeks and months. A free tier that's genuinely useful means people actually stick with the app long enough for the AI to become valuable to them. By the time someone considers upgrading to Pro, the app already understands their body and their goals. That's a better experience for the user, and it creates the kind of long-term relationship that makes a subscription business sustainable.
What Pro Adds
Vora Pro is listed at $12.99 a month or $89.99 a year, which is $7.50 a month on the annual plan. It adds five things, and that is the whole list.
- 100 AI messages a day instead of 10, in the app and over Vora AI Text.
- Turning a workout suggestion into a workout you can start, plus the Generate Workout button.
- Three workout suggestions instead of one, with refresh and a custom focus, prepared each morning.
- Choosing which device or app powers each metric when several send the same data.
- Deep Health Reports, the detailed reports Vora's coach can write in chat.
Worth saying plainly, because this page used to say otherwise: Pro is not unlimited. It raises the daily AI allowance from 10 messages to 100. The Pro screen in the app lists the extras for your phone, and a few of them differ between iPhone and Android.
The Catch
There isn't one. No ads. No data selling. No surprise charge after a trial period you forgot to cancel. The free tier is the real product. Vora makes money when people who use it every day decide the Pro features are worth $7.50 a month to them. If you never upgrade, the free version keeps working exactly the same way it did on day one.
Download it, try it, and see if it's useful. That's the whole pitch.
